Affordable health insurance is hard for many to afford. But for small business owners and the self employeed it is exspecially difficult. To many times they do not offer to the employees due to the cost. And even go uninsured theselves.
Are you growing a small 4 man operation. Maybe you are working from a room in your house, making your own hours. What if you are a contracter travelling around to differnet locations.
It would be a financial risk to go without health insurance. No matter which of these people you are none should take that risk. If you had to take a day off for an illness could you afford to pay the bills for the doctor visit too. Probably not.

If you have a small business of 2-50 you can find carriers that offer small group insurance. This insurance is rated according to the entire group, so if someone is a health risk it can be very exopensive. If you are a fairly healthy group it may be very affordable.
If small group is out of the budget you could ask carriers if they will do a list bill. What this can do for you is to offer to pay a portion of the employees cost. The employee chooses their plan based on their budget. the carrier send one bill and you deduct from payroll accordingly.
Once you start the search if you get confused by all the insurance mambo jumbo seek a broker to help you answer questions and sort through the options. A broker can shop carriers for you and gather rates. They can talk you through the difficult stuff and assist you even after you purchase.
